Central elementary was excited to reintroduce their first Grandparents Day since before the Covid-19 pandemic and from the turnout, one could tell the grandparents were excited to be welcomed back. For many of the students, this was their first opportunity of their school career to enjoy Grandparents Day. Visitors were greeted by Literacy Everywhere grant director, Mrs. Masters and Reading Coach, Mrs. Porch. They were able to select a book, courtesy of Literacy Everywhere, to share with their grandchildren. They were given a souvenir bookmark and also information on the importance of reading to their grandchildren at least 20 minutes every day. Once inside, they were given directions on how to find their grandchild's class. Visitors were also treated to "kisses" (Hershey's) and stickers from our elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Thank you to Mrs. Masters who created the welcome sign and welcomed grandparents by signing them in. Mrs. Masters said they gave away 500 bookmarks and books to grandparents and stated, "I was thrilled with the turn out!"
